What Kolkata Police have set up
Police assistance booths, first-aid posts and bio-toilets are temporary and are not published as online data, so they are not on the list above. They are on the police's printed guide map.
- Kolkata Police’s Puja Guide Map 2026 marks pandals, police assistance booths, one-way routes and entry and exit points. Free printed copies are at every police station and traffic guard, Howrah and Sealdah stations, and every Metro station. (Kolkata Police on X)
- Identification badges have been made for a lakh children. Ask for one at a police assistance booth, write your phone number on it, and pin it on before the crowd. (The Statesman)
- Ambulances are stationed at 14 points across the city, and 112 and 100 are staffed round the clock. Around 31,000 police, home guards and civic volunteers are on the roads. (The Statesman)
Before you head out
Six habits that make a night in the crowd safer.
- Agree a meeting point at the gate of every pandal before you go in. Phones stop working in the thick of a crowd.
- Put a card with your phone number in each child’s pocket, and photograph them before you leave so you can show what they were wearing.
- Carry some cash. ATMs near the big pandals run dry by late evening, and UPI slows to a crawl when the network is jammed.
- Keep your phone and wallet in a front pocket. Most Pujo thefts happen in the queue, not on the road.
- If someone faints in a queue, tell the nearest volunteer or police officer first. They can open a side exit faster than you can carry anyone out.
- Drink water before you queue. Big-pandal queues can run past an hour with nowhere to step out.
Questions
What number do I call in an emergency during Durga Puja in Kolkata?
Call 112 for any emergency: police, fire or ambulance. For Kolkata Police directly, call 100. For a fire, 101. Women can call 1091, and 1098 is for a lost child. Kolkata Police say 112 and 100 are staffed round the clock through Pujo.
What should I do if my child gets lost at a pandal?
Go straight to the nearest police assistance booth or officer at the pandal, or call 100. Do not walk away searching on your own. Kolkata Police hand out ID badges for children at their booths; pin one on with your number before you enter the crowd.
Where can I find a toilet near a Durga Puja pandal?
Pick the pandal on this page, or use your location, to see the nearest mapped public toilets. Big pujas usually set up bio-toilets nearby during Pujo; those are temporary and are marked on the Kolkata Police Puja Guide Map rather than on any online map.
Where can I get the Kolkata Police Puja Guide Map 2026?
Free printed copies are at every police station and traffic guard, at Howrah and Sealdah stations, and at every Metro station. It marks pandals, police assistance booths, one-way roads and entry and exit points.
Someone is forcing me to pay a puja donation. Who do I call?
Kolkata Police run a toll-free helpline for forced puja donations, 1800 345 5678, open 24 hours, with WhatsApp on 94326 24365.
